
Format: Each seminar is formatted for a short issue discussion with time for questions and answers. Refreshments and numerous forms, handouts, and materials will be provided to each attendee. Copies of the "Oklahoma Community Association Handbook" 2nd Ed., will be available for purchase.
Location and Time: Seminars will be held at the Belle Isle Library (except for the August 23 seminar with Neighborhood Alliance), beginning at 6:00 p.m. and ending approximately one hour after on the dates provided below.
Registration: Each seminar costs $20.00, which includes attendance and comprehensive materials. You may register for all five seminars for $89.00. Attendees must pre-register. Walk-ins will be welcomed, but may not receive materials and will be billed for attendance. You may register and pay registration fee by calling Matthew at 405.478.4818.
August 23, 2007 ‚ Legal Issues Update (Free from Neighborhood Alliance at First Christian Church on 36th St. in Oklahoma City).
September 18, 2007 ‚ Business of the Association. Seminar includes: how to prepare for and pull off a great meeting; what about insurance; records requests; increasing volunteerism; strategic planning for the association, incorporation and corporate procedure, questions and answers.
October 23, 2007 ‚ Foundations of Associations. Seminar includes: overview of the basics of association organization documents, their meaning, and function. Association members will learn how to forecast drafting problems with their governing documents, garner consensus for positive change to the governing documents, and review illegal or impractical amendments, question and answer.
November 20, 2007 - Association Finances. Seminar includes: how to properly budget and set assessments; reserve planning; taxation of the association; loans and borrowing by the association; working with lenders and title companies; how to remain fiscally transparent and vigilant, question/answer.
December 18, 2007 - Covenant Enforcement, Legal Remedies, and Conflict Resolution of the Association. Seminar includes: covenant enforcement strategies; rules, fines, and penalties; collection of assessments; liens and foreclosures; proven conflict resolution techniques, question/answer.
